PRODUCT INFORMATION

Frames

Nathan Anthony constructs all frames on site and guarantees them for life.  They are made of kiln-dried tight-grained hard wood called Alder.

  • Kiln drying removes moisture from the wood, sealing it.  This prevents swelling or shrinking which causes wood to warp and joints to loosen
  • Kiln-dried wood ensures stability and shape retention.
  • Frames are glued and screwed with 4-inch wood screws.  A horizontal gut rail gives additional strength to the base of the frame.  Heavily braced corner blocks re-enforce the joints so they will not loosen over time.
  • Padding - Nathan Anthony carefully pads all edges and arms with high-density foam.
  • Our furniture is hand made, and therefore, there will be a manufacturing dimension tolerance which may vary no more than 2 inches from stated sizes.
Springs

No-Sag Spring construction is standard on Nathan Anthony frames.  This is a unified system that moves as one.  Also known as sinuous springs, S shaped, these springs are heat-tempered and made from heavy gauge steel.  They are affixed to the frame under the seat cushions from front to back with heavy steel clips.

Back Pillow & Seat Cushion Fill

Nathan Anthony offers 2 options for back and seat cushion fill:

Synthetic Inserts
  • Seat cushions are composed of high resiliency (HR) foam, 2 lb., sandwiched and wrapped with 100% Dacron fibers.
  • Back cushions and pillows are filled with 100% Dacron.  This option provides great longevity and a clean look.
  • All synthetic inserts are covered with a canvas casing.
Feather and Down Inserts

Feather and Down inserts offer maximum comfort and luxury.  We use only the best duck feather and duck down by Pacific Coast Feather Cushion Co., manufactured to our specifications.

  • The Feathers and Down are hypo allergenic which means the product is free of debris having been washed & steamed-dried 8 times.
  • Seat Cushions - A down wrap seat is made by wrapping a feather/down envelope around a foam core.  The foam core offers additional support and helps the cushion keep its shape.
  • Back cushions/pillows - Made of blended feather/down, a 10% duck down 90% duck feather ratio is used for a soft cushion and good support.  To maintain a down pillow’s shape and fullness, we suggest you fluff, toss and turn each pillow regularly.
Cushion and Pillow Configurations

All Nathan Anthony furniture is made to order.  Make sure to specify any changes to standard frames you would like, i.e., the number of seat cushions and back cushions, either “2 over 2” (two back cushions over two seat cushions) or “3 over 3” (three back cushions over three seat cushions), or adding tufting or changing the legs.  There is a slight charge for changing styles, refer to price sheet for more information.

Legs

Nathan Anthony offers 4 leg stains at no extra charge.  Orders cannot be processed unless this is indicated.  Our styles come with a standard leg style unless other wise indicated on the order form.  We do have different legs styles that may be interchanged on our furniture.  This may also change the look and height of the piece.   

Sleepers

Nathan Anthony uses only top quality Leggett & Platt sleeper mechanisms.  These mechanisms are weight balanced and have a one-piece locking system so the front leg tube can be opened with ease from either side.  Other key features include:

  • Dual square tubes which are harder to make and cost more to produce, offer added strength.
  • Sleep support crosswires, and helically suspended polypropylene fabric enhance comfort.  Metal protrusions have been eliminated – There is no bar as you sleep.
  • We offer four options for mattresses:
  1. Foam mattress
  2. Orthopedic innerspring,
  3. Innerspring pillow top, and
  4. Legget air mattress.

Most styles are available with sleepers; they are indicated with an asterisk (*) on the price list.  Sleepers can change the finished dimensions of furniture.  The mechanism is larger than the mattress and will require extra clearance in the frame.  Sleeper sofas replace the need for spring systems.

Dimensions

Length and width dimensions are custom to each piece.  Each will vary slightly on individual furniture pieces due to padding.  Nathan Anthony offers a variation of depth on our different styles.  See price sheet for pricing guidelines.  Please fax all custom orders with these changes, including a diagram if necessary to the factory for pricing.

Upholstery

Nathan Anthony Furniture is Bench Crafted using the finest materials, taking extra steps to ensure that each piece is produced with exceptional care.

Fabric

Nathan Anthony carefully selects fabrics that compliment its designs and coordinate in color and pattern with each other.  Fabrics start at grade 5 and go up to grade 30.  Cleaning codes are indicated on each fabric sample, “S” means “Dry-clean” and “W” means spot clean with light soap and water.

Most fabrics are made of natural fibers like cotton and linen.  Some fabrics are blended with man-made fibers to develop new looks and appeal to a broader range of lifestyles.  Careful selection provides our customers with a variety of contemporary, transitional, or trendy looks.  It is natural that fabric dye lots may vary.  Nathan Anthony does not warrant dye lot variation.  If dye lot is important, please request a “Cutting for Approval.”  These cuttings can be mailed to you or your customer via UPS or FedEx at your cost.

Cut yardage Program

Nathan Anthony has many beautiful fabrics that customers purchase by the yard for their own use.  Our price structure is simple; multiply the grade of the fabric by 2.  For example, a fabric in grade 8 would cost $16.00 per yard.  Call to check on good stock before ordering.  Lead time for in stock fabric is usually 72 hours.  You pay the cost of shipping via UPS or FedEx.

Quality Control

Nathan Anthony has a separate section of the factory dedicated solely to inspecting every piece of merchandise that leaves the warehouse.  Each piece is inspected by 5 individuals trained in quality control.  We then package and prepare each piece for shipping.  Nothing leaves our factory in less than perfect condition.
