When it comes to designing – furniture, fashion, interiors or even food – little pops of color with refreshing hues can make all the difference. We stumbled upon Habit Cosmetics, a new environmentally-conscious nail polish product, recently while vacationing in Ventura, CA.
Habit Cosmetics is a Los Angeles based company that believes a subtle burst of color to the wardrobe can enhance an entire look and the perfect place to add these little bits of color is nail polish!
Introducing the first high-quality nail polish that is stylish and made with the environment in mind. Aja Frierson is the founder and artist of Habit Cosmetics. She began Habit in 2011 while working in the color development department for a major American shoe company. She loved the ritual of painting her nails but wanted a product that was free of harmful substances.
This language taken directly from Habit’s website explains it all… “Habit is free of Toluene, Formaldehyde, Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and Camphor, and is the first line of nail polish made in the United States to feature Myrrh extract. Myrrh extract is derived from the sap of the Commiphora myrrha tree, and it naturally strengthens nails. Myrrh has been used for millennia for beautification and as a medicine, as it has natural anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.” We were impressed with the fact also that Habit is packaged in FSC Certified paperboard produced through sustainable forestry. We love the bamboo cap too!
The green-consciousness of the product and the colors are unlike those we’ve ever seen. We can’t wait to see what other colors Habit adds to its line. For now, although we’ve ordered all the colors, our favorites are Tabou (orange) and Sweet Life (raspberry).
