One man oversees each stage of your furniture order

Spring is here. And though the seasons change, one special individual remains a constant at Nathan Anthony Furniture. Ismael Torres has worked with us since day one – nearly 20 years ago. He’s the person who oversees your upholstered furniture orders the rough every stage of production—a job he’s clearly mastered.

It starts with your C.O.M or Nathan Anthony in-house fabric selection. Once the yardage is in hand, Ismael’s team begins building the specified upholstery frame in our carpentry department. The fabric pattern is then digitized for precise cutting, before he coordinates with an expert seamster who will construct the entire upholstery cover. The seating area must also be prepared for suspension and springs, with tensions that will vary based on the frame style. Ismael must  coordinate with our suppliers receiving and organizing so that each craftsperson has the right materials, including the foam and fiber mix which determine the seat’s firmness or loft. All the component parts related to your custom order (did you indicate a metal or wood finish, for example?) must be ready on time and within reach as each benchmade furniture item is fully assembled by hand.

The entire artisanal process is highly choreographed, which allows us to turn around orders within a reasonable timeframe from our custom upholstery atelier. Of course, the final step before packing the furniture for shipment is quality control, and Ismael is there for it as his team confirms the finished item is exactly what you and your client are expecting to receive.
