It’s extraordinary to design things and sell them. But, it’s super extraordinary to design something and receive an award for it!  Wow!  With now our 2nd win at the International Design and Architecture Awards (IPD Awards) hosted by design et al – our Bonn sofa won in 2015 – we are more excited than ever. We learned of our win on the night of September 2, at the annual gala held at the Dorchester Hotel, London. 46,500 votes were cast online by esteemed colleagues, friends and design enthusiasts around the globe (thank you!:)). The interior design industry is rich with so much talent, creativity and ingenuity, it’s an honor truly to be included in the award-winning category and recognized for design excellence in this field. We are inspired to push the envelope even more in our designs.

This year, our Elan/S limited edition chair won the IPD Award.  Elan’s design features a unique, asymmetrically faceted geometric back application, a barrel-like chair frame to soften or add visual interest to the interior décor and a swivel feature means one can see its beautiful faceted shape from every angle. Elan was inspired by the Dutch “De Stijl” artistic movement of the early 20th century. We wanted to combine the visual composition of vertical and horizontal intersecting lines with a pop-art graphic on a rounded chair frame. By sewing through the face of an ordinary graphic, this created a more intense look.

We call her look “fierce.”  It’s fun to personify her in posts about her win on social media, likening Elan to Kendall Jenner – who never goes anywhere without her glam squad and blow machine #slayitgirl!
