Our trip to Maison & Objet last week was exciting and inspirational. We saw first-hand the new designs and materials trending in the market place. Wood finishes, for example, appeared matte and stains were natural emphasizing the grain of the wood. Fabric houses in Europe continue to show pastels, leaning toward the light pinks, yellows and blues.
Even though zig-zag and tribal-influenced patterns are prevalent, they were shown in light hues. This is in high contrast to fabric colors trending in the U.S. which are bright & deep. Furniture styles were influenced heavily by Mid-Century modern. Many small scale, 50’s inspired shapes were everywhere and when mixed with pastel fabrics, it gave this Mid-Century modern style a fresh look. Metallics were prevalent as well with designers adding special shiny touches to furniture wherever possible.
Maison & Objet brought together some of the most beautiful designs we have seen. We are in complete awe of the talent this event brings every year and feel so thankful that we are able to attend. We met many new friends in the trade and truly enjoyed making these inspiring connections. These designers talked excitingly of upcoming trends and staying ahead of the curve, which is exactly what Nathan Anthony Furniture strives to do.
It is our hope to move and inspire you as we incorporate what we have found into our designs. Make sure to watch for tweets of new ideas @NathanAnthony and fun and engaging Facebook posts while we bring to life designs for High Point April 2013.
