WestEdge and the SoCal Design Community

This November was our first time exhibiting at WestEdge Design Fair, and it proved to be an energizing way to close the year. Much of the conversation centered on recovery from the Palisades fires. Designers from across the region were assessing the projected rebuilding timeline and how it will influence client expectations and project planning.

They compared approaches, shared practical strategies and offered perspective on what the next few years may hold. It was a powerful lineup, thanks in part to the WestEdge organizers and contributor Josh Cooperman of Convo by Design.

For Nathan Anthony, WestEdge gave us the chance to connect with many of you and to share our approach as an L.A. manufacturer focused on customization and thoughtful craftsmanship. Our booth featured miniature 3D-printed versions of some of our most popular upholstery designs. I loved watching designers and attendees delighted by these maquettes.

In our booth, we enjoyed meeting with designers from Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, Pasadena and beyond, including Claudia Afshar, Stephen Pappas, Rachel Moriarty and Jeanne and Raymond Chung of Cozy Stylish Chic.

WestEdge made it clear how interconnected this community is and how much we gain when we collaborate, especially in seasons of change.

As we step into 2026, we remain focused on supporting your work with the customization, craft and partnership you expect from us. I’m excited for what’s ahead

LTA Interiors: Designing With Purpose

It was their signature style that first caught my eye—clean, contemporary, yet so timelessly inviting. That’s when I fell in love with the work of LTA Interiors. And when they chose our furniture for their projects, we were absolutely thrilled.

Founded by Lynn Berney, Tracy Gould, and Alexa Evans, LTA Interiors is an east coast-based design firm known for its refined, livable luxury. Specializing in whole-home furnishings, bespoke renovations, and new construction, the trio brings a sophisticated, collaborative approach to each project, blending classic sensibility with a clean, contemporary edge. At the heart of their work is a belief that great design should feel current and timeless, rooted in function and elevated by detail.

We had the pleasure of working with LTA Interiors on a stunning 10,000-square-foot coastal home in Southampton, New York. Designed as an art-filled retreat, the space marries modern organic design with Hamptons-inspired textures and tones. Every element was selected with intention, from the curated artwork to the custom upholstery pieces that bring softness, structure, and a sense of calm.

We caught up with the team to learn more about their design philosophy, creative process, and what inspires them most.

Your work reflects a clean, contemporary aesthetic, but also feels deeply livable. How do you approach functionality without compromising the sculptural or tailored qualities of a space?

We like to design with a purpose. The process begins with understanding how the space needs to work and fully comprehending its flow, proportions, and practical requirements. Furniture, lighting, and architectural elements are chosen or customized so that their functional role is inseparable from their visual impact, whether it’s a curved sofa that frames a room’s flow or a dining table with an architectural base. We like to use unexpected finishes to elevate everyday elements, while maintaining the idea that every piece earns its place. The result is a space where practicality and beauty are not in competition, but seamlessly intertwined.

The Southampton project integrates art in a natural, intentional way. Did you work around an existing collection, or was the art sourced alongside the furnishings?

The art was thoughtfully curated after the furnishings and was sourced with the same intention to ensure every piece felt like an inherent part of the design narrative. Much like the furniture, the selections were guided by the home’s natural, organic sensibility, drawing inspiration from the surrounding Southampton landscape. There are pieces that reference the ocean, sunsets, the ever-changing coastal light, and textures of nature that create a visual dialogue between the interiors and the environment. The art feels like an authentic extension of the space rather than an afterthought.

Collaboration is at the heart of LTA – from the dynamic between the three of you to how you guide clients and work with trusted partners like Nathan Anthony. How does that shared creative energy influence your process and the final result?

Collaborating with Nathan Anthony allowed us to tailor every detail from the curvature of each piece to the exact dimensions, colors, and textures. Our goal was not to make pieces work but rather to have the freedom to be creative and use the architecture and atmosphere to make our vision come to life. The ability to customize ensured that each piece not only fit seamlessly, but also felt emotionally connected to the design narrative, becoming an organic extension of the home’s style and setting.

When working at the scale of a 10,000 sq ft home, how do you avoid repetition while still keeping everything cohesive?

In a home of 10,000 square feet, avoiding repetition while maintaining cohesion is all about creating variations in expression. We always establish a unifying thread through the palette, materials, and architectural details but then interpret it differently from room to room. Subtle shifts in texture, proportion, and form keep each space distinct, while curated accents and tailored details ensure the entire home still feels harmonious. In essence, we play with the vibe and details to give each room its own unique voice.

Do you have a favorite Nathan Anthony piece in your work? What draws you to it?

Yes! We love the custom bed we designed for the Southampton project’s teen son’s bedroom. The bed perfectly balances sophistication with comfort. The tailored headboard works perfectly with the architectural presence in the room. The clean lines are fresh and modern. The bed is upholstered in a soft, buttery Holly Hunt leather. The proportions were carefully scaled to the room ceilings and wall niche. This piece feels both youthful and timeless.

Do you have a personal litmus test for when a room is “done”? What tells you the space is complete?

For us, we know a room is finished when it strikes a balance between every piece feeling purposeful and a sense of harmony. We look for the colors, textures, and light to work seamlessly together. Our goal is that you don’t notice each individual piece but rather the totality of the pieces together. To the naked eye, there needs to be an effortless flow. The test is when we can remove one thing and it suddenly feels lacking. Most importantly, we want every corner to have intention and not feel staged. We want the room to reflect the personality and lifestyle of the people who live there, not just our hand as the designer.

Looking ahead, are there any design challenges or ideas you’re eager to take on that you haven’t yet had the chance to explore?

Looking ahead, we’d love to explore a broader range of styles and push our design work into new territory. Every project offers an opportunity to redefine a signature look, but there’s also a certain excitement in stepping outside of that comfort zone and experimenting with a different architectural era. We would love to stretch our creative skills while maintaining the principles that guide our daily work.
