I am proud to call Nathan Anthony Furniture a family business. Founded by my husband and I in the early aughts, we chose to name the business after our son—Nathan Anthony. This venture holds a special place in our hearts, representing not only our entrepreneurial spirit but also the deep connections and history that shaped our lives.

The journey of Nathan Anthony Furniture began long before our son was born and even before Khai and I were married. Khai’s family immigrated to the United States in 1975, arriving via the USS Midway 41, a journey that marked the beginning of their new life in a foreign land. Settling in Los Angeles, they laid down deep roots, carrying with them a resilience and determination that would pave the way for future success.

Khai discovered his passion for furniture at a young age. At 18, he worked alongside his father to operate a furniture store in Los Angeles. This early exposure to the industry ignited a spark within him, setting the stage for what was to come. By the age of 23, Khai had moved on to his next challenge—a factory where he delved into the intricate process of building mattresses and sofas. He was elbow-deep in wood frames, foam filling, and fabric, every new product presenting an engineering challenge that he approached with a sharp mind and a straight ruler. Khai honed an expertise in upholstery during this time, learning how foam and fabric can be manipulated for comfort.

Meanwhile, our paths had already crossed during our high school years. Khai and I shared a deep connection that blossomed into love and culminated in our marriage in the year 2000. Our bond, both personal and professional, has become an integral part of the Nathan Anthony design legacy. Together, we embarked on the journey of creating a furniture business that reflected our shared values, creativity and commitment to quality.
Today, Nathan Anthony Furniture stands as a beacon of our journey, representing the fusion of tradition and innovation, of love and craftsmanship. Our family business is a testament to the dreams and aspirations that have guided us, and we are immensely proud of the legacy we continue to build for generations to come. Naming the business after our son, Nathan Anthony, was a way to infuse our family legacy into every piece we created.

It symbolizes not just a name but the love, dedication, and hard work that go into every aspect of our business. We invite you to share our legacy with your clients by including Nathan Anthony pieces in your next design project. Our Custom Design Concierge™ program was built to support interior designers through the intricate process of specifying custom upholstery. Get started with a 15-minute complimentary call here.
