When it comes to maintaining the look of your furniture, it is important to know how to care for it properly. Feather and Down stuffed cushions and pillows require different maintenance than fiber or foam stuffed cushions or pillows.
Feather and Down inserts offer comfort and luxury, which is why we use the best duck feather and duck down available and manufactured to our specifications. The Feathers and Down are hypo-allergenic, having been washed and steamed-dried 8 times, this means the product is free of debris.
Caring for your feather and down stuffed furniture can be simple and quick. Because feathers tend to sink with time and can make upholstery pieces appear untidy, we recommend beating and fluffing the feather/down area or cushions to help them retain their shape. To do this, simply pat the area with your hands or – for cushions – pick up the cushions, turn them over a few times and shake them to redistribute the feathers evenly throughout. Then, fluff the cushions with your hands by bunching together. When finished, set the cushions back into place. For a smoother look brush your hands over the cushions.
When cleaning upholstered furniture that is feather stuffed it is important to remember not to get the feathers wet. It is best to use upholstery cleaner or a dry cleaning solvent. Remember also, airing out the cushions every 3 to 6 months will help remove any odors that might build up from time to time.
Learning to care for your feather stuffed furniture properly will help retain the longevity of your pieces and keep them looking fresh and new for years to come!
