Our Co-founders & designers, Tina Nicole and Khai Mai, just returned from THE premiere Home Decor trade fair in Paris, France – Maison&Objet, nicknamed “Paris Fashion Week.” The show focuses on all things decorating, design, furniture, accessories, textiles, fragrances, children’s furnishings, tableware, etc. Professional designers and decorators from all of the world attend the show for inspiration and to uncover the imminent trends in home decor and contemporary living.

Maison&Objet’s history dates back to 1995, making this year the 20th anniversary. The show displays lifestyle effects in a 360° perspective, while projecting into the future of home living. Maison&Objet says to “expect the unexpected,” and each year this statement holds true.

To highlight Tina and Khai’s experience, see photos of trends they spotted below from this year’s Maison&Objet show:

BROKEN-IN/RELAXED

A broken-in, relaxed-look was everywhere.

LIGHT WOOD TONES

Light wood tones, showing the grain is important. Mid-century styling continues to dominate too.

ORGANIC SHAPES

Designers are greatly inspired by organic shapes.

QUILTED & CABLE KNIT MATERIALS

Quilted fabrics and large tufting compliment the broken-in relaxed look (Tina loves this!). Grey, soft pinks and copper tones abound.

To sum it up, furnishing and color trends included broken in/relaxed, light wood grains, mid-century inspired shapes, earth tones – mostly light grays with pops of pastel pinks and cable knit materials – all of which caught the attention of designers and decorators.

With the new-found trends in mind, and a fresh take on all things trendy, Tina and Khai look forward to creating new remarkable furniture pieces in the year 2015.
